learn a bit more about me

For starters, my name is Leah Meddaoui and my pronouns are she/her.

I’m a designer, photographer and art director. I strive for impact in any work I do because I believe in the power of communicating through art and design.

I graduated OCAD University in 2020 with a Bachelors of Design in Advertising. That is where I grew my passion for art direction and design.

I founded my own venture, 512 Collective, back in 2016. Over the years, I’ve worked with varying clients on different creative projects. From filming events and non-profit initiatives to shooting editorial fashion campaigns, working with my camera is a specialty of mine. I have worked with many individuals on strengthening their personal branding, website and social media. I not only understand, but stress the importance of creating a clear identity and presence for any brand. I also specialize in art direction, working on anything ranging from company branding, product design, short films, set design, photo campaigns, poster designs and more.

After years of expanding a variety of my digital, design and communication skills, I have learned how important it is to push my creative ideas beyond what is expected. That is why in most of my work, I capture and create through the lens of an art director. Constantly thinking of ways to connect ideas with an artistic vision, to tell a story. It is my goal to work with a creative team that I can not only learn from but one that celebrates diversity, efficiency and forward thinking just as much as I do.

In 2017, I was part of TMX’s ‘Canada’s Next 150’ campaign, highlighting young entrepreneurs and their business ventures.

Though our photo studio closed last fall, I have created my own at-home studio.

This way, I can create in my space.

A lot of the decor and props in my space were the same ones used at the studio.
